On the eastern shores of Indian Arm, between the mountains and the seashore, you will find YMCA Camp Howdy. Surrounded by Belcarra Regional Park, it is a secluded, peaceful setting for a memorable camp experience. For over 60 years, Camp Howdy has been dedicated to working with young people in summer camping programs, building positive identity and self esteem. Through sensitive, competent leadership, we ensure that each camper has the opportunity to grow and learn as an individual within a cabin group setting.

A wonderful introduction to summer camping. Counselors help young campers adapt to an unfamiliar environment through individual attention and care. Each cabin group works together during their stay and takes part in the weekly theme day, ‘funzies’ and age-appropriate program areas. Possible activities include arts & crafts, swimming, archery, canoeing, forest games, cook outs and voyageur canoeing.
Senior camp is an exciting environment for campers to develop their skills. Along with theme day, ‘funzies’, and camp-wide evening activities Senior Campers may also participate in orienteering, rock climbing, kayaking, swimming, canoeing and archery. Our older campers will also have an opportunity to experience an overnight trip on Indian Arm.
Our program is designed to offer challenges and activities suitable to campers of every age group. We provide a nutritional lunch as well as a variety of community pick up and drop off locations.
Our youngest participants are provided an opportunity to experience many new and exciting activities including swimming, land sports, arts and crafts, voyageur canoeing, archery, nature and creative play.
With a focus on adventure and learning, this program provides all campers with an opportunity to work on skills in many activity areas. Along with all the activities offered through Alouettes, Shehalis campers may experience kayaking, canoeing, and day trips.
This program is designed to challenge older camper’s interests and offer experiences that stimulate self-esteem and self-confidence. Garibaldi campers will be given an opportunity to take part in all program areas at camp and develop leadership skills through fun and exciting activities.
