Mission

The YMCA of Greater Vancouver is a charity dedicated to strengthening the foundations of community.

Working in Child Care

Western Canada's largest provider of licensed, non-profit child care services, the YMCA recognizes and values the role self-reliant children and strong families play in building healthy communities for all of us. Throughout Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, we care for over 1,500 children and their families every day, in over 50 programs.

We offer a place where children can grow and succeed, through quality programs that stimulate their minds, promote positive social connections and encourage self-esteem. We work with families to provide a support system for healthy development, and to respect the diverse cultural backgrounds, needs, interests and expectations that enrich all that we offer.

The YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility are the foundation for what we do, and are integral in staff training, our relationships with families and caregivers and our interaction with children. In our child care staff, we look for expertise and caring leadership in those who choose to make a positive difference in a child-centred environment.

We offer enrichment for staff through excellent support, communication, team-work and training opportunities in asset development, literacy, safety, quality and service. In addition to providing a safe and healthy place for children under the age of five years, YMCA Child Care offers a variety of specialized programs.
