In addition to providing quality fitness, sport and recreation opportunities, the YMCA has always been at the forefront of innovating outreach programs and community services. While names and specific mandates may have changed over the years, our commitment to responding to the existing and emerging needs of our diverse communities has not.
At YMCA Community Services, we are open to men and women, youth and adults and groups who need our support. We provide equal access and opportunities for participation as we work within our neighbourhood and with other organizations to support the healthy development of people from all walks of life.
YMCA Community Services currently offers a variety of programs geared to finding employment or career support, new Canadians, youth and community volunteers:
| · | YMCA Connections: Linking new immigrants to communities in the Lower Mainland. |
| · | YMCA Self-Employment programs, in Vancouver and Burnaby: Helping EI recipients start successful self-run businesses. |
| · | YMCA Youth Exchanges: Helping youth groups across BC travel to experience life elsewhere in Canada. |
| · | YMCA CIBC Youth Visions: A scholarship program to encourage the pursuit of post-secondary education among students who are involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the YMCA. |
